Trade Window FAQs

There are many building regulations to be aware of but the main ones to consider are:

• structure, is the opening structurally safe IE Lintels
• toughened safety glass and where to use it
• barriers/balustrades use and risk of falling
• fire escapes or restricted windows
• trickle vent usage and ventilation
• cill sizes and overhangs
• energy ratings

These can be downloaded from your local council’s website or follow The Certass Building Regs guide in our download section.

Other considerations include easy clean configurations if you have a hard-to-reach window; the colour of the frame if you have a south-facing property; the material type; solar reflective glass or laminated glass to reduce bleaching from unwanted UV rays and so on. Speak to your account manager to find out more.

Delivery time will vary from product to product, but we aim to deliver most items in a 4–6-week period.

If ordered incorrectly, we will not accept a return as the product is built to your specification and size. If the product or any of its parts are faulty, we will supply the new part to you.

We can deliver the product to you, charges for delivery will differ depending on size, quantity, area, etc. Please request delivery at the time of ordering.

We supply a 5-year warranty on the frames and glass. A 1-year warranty on any moving parts (hinges, handles, and locking systems). Please see our T&Cs.

Your contractor or installer will need to provide the manufacturing sizes. We do not provide a survey service on supply products. They will need to provide the specification for the window or door. Good knowledge of the current building regulations is recommended. However, if you speak with the account manager, they will talk you through possible requirements prior to placing the order.

Once an order is placed, we will provide an order acknowledgement for your review and any changes we need to be reported within 48 hours of receipt. After the 48-hour period, your order will be placed with the manufacturing team.
